DreamPower Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization working with physically and mentally challenged children and adults. Founded by KC Liedermen, DreamPower offers sport and recreational horseback riding, carriage driving and hippotherapy sessions. Since 1993, we have served Metro Atlanta and the surrounding Northeast Georgia communities of Alpharetta, Canton, Cumming & Gainesville. The DreamPower therapeutic riding program is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA).

KC Liederman originally established Animals R Us, a therapeutic riding program with only one horse and one pony, providing sports recreation to five children. Three years later the program was renamed DreamPower Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc. and KC began building a program that expanded to include carriage driving and hippotherapy. Serving between 50-100 students, DreamPower has provided a way for scores of special needs children and adults to fulfill their dreams.

The program resides at a NARHA premier facility meeting the highest standards for programs in the domestic US. The DreamPower Team is comprised of community, corporate and industry leaders who are dedicated to our mission, and selflessly give of themselves to ensure that people with special needs can enjoy our programs. Our NARHA certified therapeutic riding instructors conduct all of the sessions on horses specially selected and trained for this type of therapeutic program.

Why Therapeutic Riding?

Individuals with almost any cognitive, physical and/or emotional disability can benefit from therapeutic riding, driving, competition or other purposeful, safe and supervised interaction with equines. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. For individuals with mental or emotional disabilities, the unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem. Therapeutic riding gives many of our students the opportunity to set aside their crutches, wheelchairs and disabilities as they settle into the saddle.

Therapy experts have found that individuals with challenges respond to the horses with an enthusiasm that can't be matched in the traditional clinical environment.  Our horses accept each individual unconditionally and the strong bond that soon develops becomes a vital part of therapy.
